About the College
Christ Church is one of the best colleges affiliated to the University of Oxford. The college has approximately 100 research and teaching staff. Christ Church is on St Aldate's, in the heart of Oxford. The college is close to the Bodleian Library and other University facilities.
Meal and Accommodation
Students are equipped with college rooms throughout their time at Christ Church. Some of the rooms are on the main site, modernized and spacious buildings built over five centuries. Approximately sixty students live nearby in modern self-catering flats, which are shared with another college. One flat is reserved for up to three disabled residents and one room for disabled students are available on the main site. Students are served up with a different and high-quality meals and the college aims to cater for all special diets.
The college has a well-equipped eighteenth century library, which is one of the largest in Oxford. The library aims at supplying everything undergraduate students need for their courses and react to requests for new purchases. The college also has a specialized law library. There is two well-stocked library rooms and students' rooms have internet points.
The common room is furnished with pool tables and table tennis and next door there is widescreen TV with a DVD player and satellite channels. The college has art room, picture gallery and music room where the art tutor organizes visits, video displays, discussions and offer classes.
The student societies cater for a broad range of interests and the college sports ground has outstanding facilities for sports. The college has drama society, which puts on regular productions and motivates participation in and out of college. Music flourishes with choir, orchestra and other ensembles in addition to the renowned Christ Church Cathedral Choir. Individuals with contemporary musical interests can showcase their potential at the termly 'open mike' night. A number of subject-based societies organize discussions, speakers and dinners.
Facilities for Students with Disabilities
The college has two purpose-built rooms for students with disabilities on the college site. It also has one flat in the Liddell Building, Iffley Road.
Christ Church has one of the largest libraries in Oxford. The library is well-equipped with more than 160, 000 books, comfortable work areas and generous opening hours. The law library is open twenty-four hours a day.
There is separate graduate computer room with approximately ten terminals, internet access and printing facilities. Christ Church has a music room, tennis courts and squash, sports ground and boathouse.
