AQA Baccalaureate - Cambridge
Candidates taking the AQA Baccalaureate must note that it is an acceptable qualification for entry to the University of Cambridge. Nevertheless, offers shall be conditional on achievement in the 'A' levels within the qualification than the overall Baccalaureate award.
The university welcomes applications from candidates who are studying towards the complete Cambridge pre-u diploma or specific principal subjects within the qualification along 'A' levels. Conditional offers shall be set on an individual basis, however, are likely to comprise achieving distinction level grades in major subjects.
The university considers the acceptability of the new Diplomas for the courses on a case-by-case basis. Presently, the Advanced Diplomas in Manufacturing, Engineering, Product Design, Land-based Studies and Environmental Studies provide proper preparation for Cambridge courses as mentioned below.
The Advanced Diploma in Manufacturing and Product Design and Engineering shall be accepted for Engineering as long as students have received specified options within the Additional Specialist Learning component.
The Advanced Diploma in Environmental and Land-based Studies shall be accepted for Natural Sciences (Biological), Land Economy and Geography as long as students have taken two proper 'A' levels within the Additional Specialist Learning component. In term of Natural Sciences (biological), these must be 'A' level Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology or Physics 'A' level. The requirements for Land Economy and Geography are more flexible.
If students are studying the European Baccalaureate, then it must be noted that successful candidates are generally asked for eighty-five percent overall with ninety percent in the subjects that associate most closely to the course they desire to study.
The university welcomes the introduction of the Extended Project and would motivate students to undertake one as it will assist students to reinforce independent study and research skills and make the shift easy from college/school to higher education. Nevertheless, the completion of an Extended Project shall not be a prerequisite of any offer made.
Candidates taking the French Baccalaureate are sixteen or seventeen out of twenty. Candidates are generally asked to obtain sixteen or seventeen in particular subjects.
If students are studying towards the German Abitur, then they must note that applicants are generally asked for an overall score of between 1.0 and 1.3 with 13 or 14 in those subjects, which are associated most closely to the course they desire to study.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
