                     Fertilisers: Substances which when added to soil increase fertility of soil thereby increasing the crop yield.

                     Pesticides: Substances that kill or repel pests.

                     Fungicide: Substance which kills fungi.

                     Farmyard Manure: It is a mixture of cattle dung, urine and crop residue.

                     Biofertilisers: The cultures of bacteria and blue green algae which are used as fertilisers are called biofertilisers.

                     Manures: Natural organic materials which are added to the soil to increase the productivity of crops.

                     Compost: The organic manure prepared from plant remains and animal excreta.

                     Green Manure: Entire plants used as fertilisers such as cowpea, sunnhemp, etc.

                     Weeds: Unwanted plants growing along with crop plants.

                     Bioinsecticides: Living organisms which feed on pests and control their growth.

                     Chemical Fertiliser: Chemical compounds which supply nutrients to the plants.

                     Vermicompost: A compost which is prepared from the excreta of earthworms.

                     Mycorrhiza: Symbiotic association of a fungus and a higher plant in which the fungus lives within or on the outside of the root.
