Top of Form

Excretion: The process by which non-gaseous nitrogenous wastes are eliminated from the body is called excretion.

Osmoregulation: The process by which living organisms regulate the amount of water and solutes in their body is called osmoregulation.

Homeostasis: A state of physiological equilibrium.

Deamination: The process of breaking down of amino acids into the forms in which they are excreted is called deamination.

Ammonotelism: The elimination of nitrogenous wastes in the form of ammonia is called as ammonotelism.

Ammonotelic: Animals excreting nitrogenous wastes in the form of ammonia are called ammonotelic.

Ureotelism: The elimination of nitrogenous wastes in the form of urea is called as ureotelism.

Ureotelic: Animals excreting nitrogenous wastes in the form of urea are called ureotelic.

Uricotelism: The elimination of nitrogenous wastes in the form of uric acid is called uricotelism.

Uricotelic: Animals excreting nitrogenous wastes in the form of uric acid are called uricotelic.

Nephrons: The microscopic functional units of kidney, that produce urine are called nephrons.

Uriniferous Tubule: The uriniferous tubule is the structural and functional unit of the kidney.

Reabsorption: The process by which the cells of the uriniferous tubule reabsorb the essential substances from the glomerular filtrate is called reabsorption.

Tubular Secretion: The secretion of absorbed substances like ions of potassium, ammonia, hydrogen and creatinine by the cells of the tubule into the lumen of the tubule is called tubular secretion.

Renal Artery: Renal artery is a branch of dorsal aorta.

Ureter: The duct taking the urine from the kidney.

Renal Vein: It is a tributary of inferior vena cava.

Osmotic Pressure: The pressure exerted due to the relative proportions of water and solutes.

Deoxygenated Blood: Impure blood or the blood which is not carrying oxygen with it.

Thermoregulation: The process of regulating the temperature is called thermoregulation.
