Department of Editing

Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, offers a course in editing. The course curriculum includes theoretical as well as practical exercises. The course facilitates students to reinforce film and television editing skills. The film school has a well equipped department of editing. The responsibility of the Editing department is to maintain an encouraging and stimulating learning environment, where students are motivated to learn. The department provides students with advanced technology used for film and television editing.

The film school has separate department for film and video editing. These departments are well equipped with modern tools. The film division incorporates ten separate Steenbeck editing suites. SRFTI has another section, The Digital Non-Linear Editing. This section includes

In addition, the department also has other sections including graphics and five linear video editing. The department of editing has digital editing demonstration and viewing facilities, special classroom Agit prop, analyses and discussion facilities, etc. The film school organizes workshop and seminars where they invite working professionals from film industry to interact with students. Department of Motion Picture Photography
Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, has a well-equipped department of motion picture photography. The department was established and developed at the institute, under the supervision of Shri Subrata Mitra. The department is dedicated to impart motion picture photography education. The course of MMP is well designed and includes theoretical as well as practical exercises. The programme covers a number of techniques of lighting, cinematographic theory, control methods at lab stages, aesthetics, concepts,

The department of motion picture photography is fully equipped with a complete still photography division, various digital camera set-ups and analogue, cine cameras ranging from 16mm to 35mm up to the level of Arri 435 and Arri SR III. Students are given special training in advanced software. After completing the course, students get into the film and television industry with no difficulty. The department consists of a good array of accessories for many application levels. The editing department has advanced labs for students.
