SLIET Admission Procedure
Vertical Entry Seats: Only for SLIET Students
Selected candidates will get admission to the vertical entry seat. Vertical entry seat will be 50% percent of the admitted strength of the candidates who are students of lower courses for 2 years. If the student from promoted candidates does not claim to admission in a trade, a seat in trade will fall vacant and be offered to next eligible student in the same trade.
Candidates who are looking forward to getting promotion for Certificate course to Diploma course/Diploma to Degree course against these reserved seats, the Diploma/Certificate course students need to appear in entrance test to get entry into the Degree and Diploma stream.
The merit list of such candidates will be made on the basis of 60% of their performance score in the entrance tests and 40% score in the qualifying Certificate/Diploma course. Such candidates must have got admission to Diploma/Certificate course programme before 2 years and also have completed the course in the prescribed years and chances. There are two prescribed chances to clear a subject; they are one regular and two supplementary chances. Nonetheless, the student who has supplementary in the last semester, he will have only one supplementary chance of promotion to Diploma/Higher module.
Direct Entry Seats: for SLIET Students and Outside Candidates
Candidates who are interested to take admission to Diploma and Degree courses, they are required to appear for the entrance test. There are two different tests for Diploma and Degree Programmes. The candidates who wish to take admission to Diploma programmes should appear for a National Level Entrance Tests, SET-II and the candidates who wish to take admission to Degree programmes should appear for SET-III. Both tests are conducted by the institute and the admission to these seats will be made on the basis of merit.
The SLIET students who have been admitted for 2 years in Certificate/Diploma courses and Non-SLIET candidates with a Degree/Diploma qualification are only eligible to get admission against theses seats. A SLIET student admitted in Certificate/Diploma programmes in the preceding years is allowed to apply for the admission under direct entry seat in any Degree/Diploma programme. However, such a student will not be considered for admission against direct entry seat in the Degree/Diploma programme that is available to them by means of vertical promotion.
SLIET students who are competing for direct entry seats, they are required to appear for SET-II/SET-III exam. Though they are students at the institute will be treated as Non-SLIET candidates for the admission to this category. The SLIET students competing for direct entry will be treated as a fresher without any weightage to his/her score in the qualifying Diploma/Degree course.
If a candidate does not report for the first counseling shall not be regarded in following counseling in any circumstance. Once the date of first counseling of the programme is over, no result of any qualifying exam shall be taken into consideration. There is no negative marking. The seats prescribed for vertical entry and direct entry are firmly not interchangeable in any condition.
