RGNUL - Moot Court Competition

A Moot Court is an obligatory activity at any law school. The students participate in simulated court proceeding customarily in oral argument and debate. Moot Court activity focuses exclusively on the application of law to a common set of significant assumptions to which competitors ought to be introduced to. Moot Court Competition is one of the best activities to hone students' fundamental law skills like debating, arguing and taking right decision at the crucial moment.

The Second LAWASIA International Moot Court Competition was hosted by the University in 2007. The International Rounds of LAWASIA were held at Nairobi, Kenya. The moot court competition was inaugurated by honorable Mr. Justice M.M. Kumar, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Chairperson of Valedictory Session was honorable Mr. Justice Rajiv Bhalla, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court. This moot court competition was won by the NLSIU, Bangalore.

The national rounds of The Commonwealth Moot Court Competition for India were conducted by RGNUL, Patiala in July 2007 in association with CLEA Prof. S. Siva Kumar, Research Professor, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi and President CLEA Asia-India. Mr. Ramesh Inder Singh, IAS, Chief Secretary Punjab inaugurated this competition. The Valedictory Address was delivered by honorable Mr. Justice Rajiv Bhalla, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh. The winner of this competition was West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata.

Since the competition was the first event organized by the university, it conferred an intercontinental impetus to the law university. Here, the university got the opportunity to invite global dogma of students. The competition has made available an arena to the students of RGNUL to look at the international dimensions of expertise.

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law organized All India Moot Court Competition. It was sponsored by The Bar Council of India Trust, New Delhi in January, 2008. There were 32 teams from many law universities which participated in the moot court competitions. It was inaugurated by Prof. Mool Chand Sharma, Vice-Chairman, University Grants Commission, New Delhi. Honorable Mr. Justice Vijender Jain announced the result of competition. The All India Moot Court Competition organized by RGNUL under the sponsorship of Bar Council of India Trust gave a colossal national reputation to the institution.
