NLIU - Moot Court Association
The university has appointed Moot Court Association (MCA) to organize competitions. Since moot court is a vital part of any law student's life, it is being introduced in the university and has got recognition across the country. It can't be denied that moot courts give a courtroom practice in a manner that the classroom teaching can not fulfill this purpose.
NLIU organizes moot court competition with the intention of enhancing basic law skills which will help them to be a good lawyer in future. The university also maintains moral and ethics and makes the students to implement them not only in profession but also in real life. It is said that students of NLIU are very challengeable and it's very difficult to beat them in moot court competition. The university tries to arrange more moot courts to maximize the advantage that the students getting from it.
Moot Court Association was set up in 2002 with the purpose of boosting confidence in students and to take part in moot courts actively. Moot court is a dais where students develop their skills like argument, debating, etc. The Moot Court Association organizes national level competition on the campus every year.
NLIU has the honour of hosting 23 Annual Inter University Bar Council of India Moot Court Competition in 2006. The competition was inaugurated by the Honorable Dr. Balram Jakhar, Governor, State of Madhya Pradesh, and in the presence of R.B. Raghuvanshi, Vice-Chairman of the Bar Council of India. The final round of this competition was judged by:
- Honorable Justice Ashok Bhan, Judge of Supreme court of India
- Honorable Justice A.K. Patnaik, Chief Justice High Court of Madhya Pradesh
- Honorable Justice Deepak Verma, Judge High Court of Madhya Pradesh
- Shri R.B. Raghvanshi Vice-Chairman, Bar Council of India
- Shri S.N.P. Sinha, Member, Bar Council of India
This competition is won by Indian Law Society (ILS), Pune and the memorial was of NLIU, Bangalore.
In order to improve the standard of mooting, the MCA has implementing various policies to train the students and also help them to prepare for renowned competition.
