NIFT – Selection Procedure
The candidates who have qualified written exam will be called for subsequent test. There are different tests for different Programmes such as Situation test, Psychometric Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Psychometric Test for masters programmes in Management and Technology, Situation test for Design Programme, Group Discussion and personal interview. It will be conducted at designated test centres.
Situation Test: The qualified candidates in written exam are needed to appear for situation test that is a hands-on test. This test assesses the candidates’ ability and skills in material handling.
Psychometric Test: The test mainly aims to assess general competencies, Task Oriented and People Oriented. Task Oriented Competency may comprise of Global Perspective, Learn Ability, Problem Solving, Strategic Thinking, Analytical Thinking, Innovation, Planning and Organizing, and Process Oriented. While the people oriented competencies may comprise of coordination, negotiation skill, teamwork, communication and leadership etc.
Group Discussion: The candidates will have to participate in group discussion that will be of 15 to 20 minutes. The discussion shall be on a case study and the experts will assess the assess the candidates’ performance on knowledge of the topic, interpersonal skills, problem solving ability, effective communication, conceptual clarity, contribution that is made on the topic to the group, ability to create innovative ideas, leadership qualities. After qualifying this exam the candidate has to appear for the final round that is personal interview.
Personal Interview: The objective of this interview is to assess candidate on many parameters such as aptness for the field, overall personal achievement in academics and co-curricular activities, general awareness, career orientation, aptitude, overall personality, communication.
If both the candidates have scored equal, the preference will be given to their date of birth. The reserved seats will be allotted as, ST 7.5 %, SC 15 %, Physically Handicapped 3 %, Foreign Nationals/NRI/SAARC 15 %.
