Film Director

Ashoke Viswanathan graduated in mathematics from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. He also completed post graduation in film direction from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune. Consequently, Viswanathan completed a certificate course in video production from FTII in 1986. Viswanathan has been associated with the film and television industry for over three decades. He has been an active filmmaker ever since. He has contributed to the film and television industry and played various roles including:

  • Screenplay writer
  • Director
  • Presenter
  • Actor

Mr. Viswanathan directed over 150 film and television programmes that consist of:

  • Documentaries
  • Music videos
  • Feature films
  • Telefilms
  • Teleserials

The Government of India has noticed Mr. Viswanathan's contribution to the film industry; as a result, he received two National Awards. As a film director, Mr. Viswanathan produced various creative films that were widely appreciated. He received an International Award as well. Mr. Viswanathan has the honour of being included for three of his feature films and one of sort features, in the Indian Panorama sections of IFFI.

Mr. Viswanathan's is regarded as a creative director. It is also said that, he is one of the few directors who know how to communicate ideas and thoughts through motion pictures, effectively. His films were shown at national and international film festivals including:

  • Ipswich Film Festival

Mr. Viswanathan had the honour of representing India at the Cambridge Seminar on modern British Writing. The seminar was held a Downing College, Cambridge in 1997. Mr. Viswanathan has presided over a number of well-known film institutes in India and abroad, including:
