Eligibility Criteria

The candidates are required to meet the following criteria for admission to legal education in Kerala.

L.L.B. Programme (5 year)

  • Candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Exam of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or any other equivalent exam which is recognized by the Universities in Kerala.

  • Candidates who have passed 10+2 course which is recognized by the educational authority of the State/Central Government or any other equivalent course recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) can apply for admission.

  • Candidates who are appearing for the qualifying exam can also apply for the test. However, their admission will be provisional and subject to produce passing certificate at the time of admission.

  • Candidates should have passed the qualifying exam with at least 40 % marks. Nonetheless, candidates who belong to SC/ST are required to pass the qualifying exam with 35 % marks.

L.L.B. Programme (3 year)

  • Candidates should have passed 10+2+3 in any stream of any University in Kerala or any equivalent exam of any Universities which is recognized by the Universities in Kerala.

  • Candidates should have passed Bachelor Degree exam with at least 40 % marks in aggregate. Nonetheless, candidates who belong to ST/ST category are required to pass in qualifying exam with at least 35 % marks.

  • Candidates who are appearing for the qualifying exam can also apply for the test. However, their admission will be provisional and subject to produce necessary documents as proof of passing. These documents should be produced at the time of Centralized Allotment Process.

L.L.M. Course (2 year)

  • Candidates should have passed L.L.B. exam (either of 5 years or 3 years course) of the Universities in Kerala or any other equivalent exam of other universities which is recognized by the Universities in Kerala.

  • Candidates appearing for final year of L.L.B. exam are allowed to take entrance exam. However, their admission will be provisional and subject to produce degree certificate and the mark sheet of all qualifying exams at the time of Centralized Allotment Process.

Age Limit

  • For L.L.B. course (5 year), the candidates must be 17 years of age on December 31, of the year of exam. There is no relaxation of the minimum age. On the other hand, there is no upper age limit. The candidates need to attach attested copy of relevant page of SSLC or equivalent certificate as a proof of age.
  • For L.L.B. and L.L.M. course, there is no upper age limit.

Nativity

Candidates who are seeking admission to the courses in legal education must be Indian citizen of Kerala origin. The candidates are needed to produce any of the certificates, mentioned below, with the application form so as to prove they are Indian citizen of Kerala origin.

  • The candidates who have undergone school studies in Kerala are required to get the course certificate from the Head of the Education Institute in Kerala as a proof that he/she has undergone their studies in Kerala for at least 5 years within a period of 12 years immediately prior to the successful completion of the Higher Secondary or equivalent exam. Or
  • A certificate from the Tahsildar/Village Officer so as to show that he/she or their father/mother from Kerala origin. Or
  • A certificate from Tahsildar/Village Officer as a proof that he/she has been a resident of Kerala State for 5 years within the period of 12 years.
