ILS - Activities

The Indian Law Society not only gives theoretical knowledge but also takes care of the students' complete growth by means of extra-curricular activities. Every year, the college organizes various events and activities like debates, moot court competitions and cultural activities, etc. Every student participates in these events actively; in fact, he/she waits eagerly for such events to occur. ILS students have also made their mark in national and international competitions.

The college organizes indoor and outdoor sports tournaments such as cricket, football, volleyball, swimming, chess, table tennis, etc. These games help students in staying physically strong. The college also has a well built Gymkhana. It is managed by the Gymkhana Committee. The full-time faculty member is a chairperson of the committee and representatives from all divisions organize activities. Usually, athletics competitions are held in the month of December-January.

Students of Law College participate in various competitions and have made their mark in many competitions in Pune and all over the country. Debating skill for lawyers is very essential in their profession which why the college organizes moot courts for practice. In moot courts, students are allowed to talk on diverse topics. The college has a Debating Association to serve mooting practice. To make its students perfect in this vital skill, the association arranges assorted debating, elocution and declamation competitions.

The ILS law college students are said to be good at debating. This is why they have won various prestigious prizes including:

  • All India Inter College Debate, organized by the Cochin University
  • H.H. Raja of Sangli's Gokhale Cup
  • Late Sanjay Deshmukh Debating Competition
  • Late Madhu Limaye Smriti Karandak
Every year ILS publishes the college magazine called 'Abhivyakti'. The magazine includes yearly report of the college and activities of the past year. In this magazine, there are three sections including English, Marathi and Hindi containing articles by students in each of theses sections and staff. The magazine committee includes members like Mrs. Vaijayanti Joshi and Dr. Jaya Sagade.
