GLC - Extra-Curricular Activities
The college has decentralized its work by assigning various committees, league, council and societies. There are committees like the magazine committee, Law Review Committee, Placement Committee, etc. all these facilitate the college to get work done.
Moot Court Association: The objective of 'Moot Court' association is to give confidence and endorse the activity of mooting in the government Law College. The responsibility of the moot court association is to organize many moots in the college such as
- Freshers' moot court competition
- The grand moot court competition
- The demonstration moot court
- The Nani Palkhivala memorial national tax moot court competition
There are many moot court competitions being conducted by the association to encourage the students. The moot court helps in sharpening the law skills of students like debate and arguments. The national level moot court competitions along with various moots are held by association. The moot court association comprises a number of members and it is one of the most active and vibrant associations.
Moot court is something where a mooter gets an opportunity to improve his/her argument ability which will help them in performing well in court. Moot court is open for everyone. In moot court, there is a round called college-level elimination. In this round, anyone can take part but they need to have participated in the Fresher's moot.
Law Review Committee: The aim of this committee is to publish the Annual Law Review of Government Law College. The Editor-in-Chief of this committee is Justice Y.V. Chandrachud, the erstwhile Chief Justice of India.
Social Service League: The responsibilities of this committee are: arranging slum development programme, making people aware of legal education, conducting lectures based on social issues, etc. In association with the NGO called 'Prayas' the committee arranges jail visits for the final year students. This visit facilitates the students to prepare bail applications for undertrials. The committee looks forward to forming a follow-up programme which will scrutinize the status of the prepared bail applications.
Sports Committee: The purpose of this committee is to organize various sports activities in the college. There are ample facilities provided by college in sporting. Every year the college organizes a Sports Week where lots of sports activities are held.
The Students Council: This is a major body which symbolizes the students' community. Only those Students who have merit will be nominated to the council. This body will hold office for the whole academic year.
Magazine Committee: The aim of the committee is to publish the annual college magazine.
Placement Committee: This committee is formed with the intention of looking after the recruitment programme in college. Students have an opportunity to get selected through the Placement Week, which is organized by this committee. The responsibilities of this committee are to contact and visit the firms and advocates to open the doors for employment to the students.
Dramatics Society: The responsibility of this committee is to celebrate special days which can be included:
Besides, it is associated with the Music Circle and many other communities like the Marathi Mandal, Hindi Parishad, Gujarati Mandal, etc. with the help of these mandals it organizes various cultural programmes in the college.
