FTII Ė Courses

The Film and Television Institute of India offers various courses. FTII is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The information on courses, intake, qualification and duration of the courses is given as follows.

Course in Films

Acting

  • Candidates who are seeking admission to a two-year post graduate course in acting must possess Bachelor's Degree. In all, 23 seats available for admission to this course.

Animation and Computer Graphics

  • It is a one and half year certificate course. Candidates who wish to pursue this course need to have passed 10+2 senior secondary exam. However, candidates who have done diploma from Fine Arts College will be preferred. There are total 12 seats for this programme.†

Art Direction and Production Design

  • It is a two-year postgraduate diploma course. Candidates who wish to take admission must possess Bachelorís Degree in Painting/Sculpture/Architecture/Interior Design/Applied Arts or relevant fields in Fine Arts or equivalent. There are total 12 seats for admission to this course.

Cinematography

  • Candidates must possess Bachelorís Degree for admission to the above said course. There are 12 seats available for this programme. Cinematography is a post graduate diploma course and it is for a duration of three years.

Direction

  • It is a three-year postgraduate diploma course. Candidates who wish to take admission to this programme should possess Bachelorís Degree. There are total 12 seats available for admission to the Direction Programme.

Editing

  • It is a three-year postgraduate diploma. Candidates who wish to take admission must hold Bachelorís Degree. There are total 12 seats for this course.

Feature Film Screenplay Writing

  • It is one year postgraduate certificate course. Candidates must have Bachelorís Degree for admission to this course. There are total 12 seats available for admission.

Sound Recording & Sound Design

  • It is a three-year postgraduate diploma programme. Candidates who wish to pursue this course are required to have Bachelorís Degree in any discipline with Physics subject at 10+2 level. There are total 12 seats for admission to this course.

Courses in Television

Electronic Cinematography

  • It is one year post graduate certificate course. Candidates should have Bachelorís Degree for admission to this programme. There are 11 seats for admission to this course.

Sound Recording and TV Engineering

  • It is one year post graduate certificate course. Candidates who wish to take admission to the above said programme need to hold Bachelorís Degree with Physics at 10+2 level. There are total 11 seats for this programme.

Direction

  • It is a one-year post graduate certificate course. Candidates should have Bachelorís Degree for admission to this course. There are total 11 seats for this course.

Video Editing

  • Itís one year post graduate certificate course. Candidates must have Bachelorís Degree for admission to this programme. There are total 11 seats for admission to Video Editing Programme.

Reservation

There are some seats reserved for ST/SC/OBC candidates and physically handicapped persons. The reservation will be as per the Govt. policy. Besides the reservation mentioned above, there are two seats reserved for NRI/Foreign Students in each of the above mentioned courses. For foreign students, there is one seat reserved in every three-year postgraduate diploma courses and also in the postgraduate certificate programmes in Animation and Computer Graphics, Feature Film Screenplay Writing.
