BITSAT English Proficiency Logical Reasoning
a) English proficiency
Generally, English proficiency test aims to check candidates’ adequacy in the use of English language in real life situation; how they use the language for communication. The test also assesses candidates’ knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, ability to read fast with comprehension, and above all how they apply this knowledge to writing.

b) Logical reasoning
This test mainly aims to assess candidates’ power of reasoning in verbal and non-verbal areas. Candidates are expected that they should be able to think logically so as to they understand the relationships correctly, make out the data accurately, and apply rules to new and different situation. Candidates’ knowledge about reasoning will be assessed through performance on tasks such as following directions, establishing sequences, detecting missing links, completing analogies, and classifying words.
5. Verbal Reasoning
Analogy means association. Candidates will be given analogy test in which a particular relationship is to be given and they will be provided with alternatives. Candidates have to identify similar relationship from the alternatives provided.
Here candidates have to find out and set the items from a given group on the basis of certain common quality which they possess and mark out the dissimilar option.
3. Series Completion
Candidates will be given a series of numbers or letters. Here they will be asked to either complete the series or make out the wrong part in the series.
4. Logical Deduction-Reading Passage
Candidates will be given a brief passage. Here they are needed to identify the correct or incorrect logical
5. Chart Logic
Here a table or a chart is given which is incompletely or half filled in and asks to complete it in reference to the information given either in the table/chart or in the given question
6. Non-verbal Reasoning
1. Pattern Perception
Here candidates will be given a certain pattern and normally a quarter is left blank. The candidates are needed to identify the correct quarter as an answer from the given four alternatives.
2. Figure Formation and Analysis
Here the candidates are needed to analyze and form a figure from different given parts
3. Paper Cutting
It is consist of the analysis of a pattern which is formed when a folded piece of paper is cut into a definite design
4. Figure Matrix
Candidates will be given more than one set of figures in the form of a matrix which follows the same rule. Here the candidates are needed to follow the rule and identify the missing figure.
5. Rule Detection
Candidates will be given a particular rule and it is required to select from the given sets of figure, a set of figure that obeys the rule and forms the correct series.
