Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication has been active in organizing seminars. The AIMC organized a National Seminar on 'Public Service Broadcasting: Challenges Ahead'. In November 2009, AIMC organized programme, 'Celebrating 50 Years of Doordarshan'. Some of the prominent personalities listed below discussed the importance of PSB and the challenges due to arrival of satellite channels.

Doordarshan had its self-effacing beginning in Delhi on September 15, 1959. Doordarshan completed its glorious 50 years and played a role as a public service broadcaster. Prof. Ashok Ogra, Director, AIMC drew out the milestones of the national television. Today, Doordarshan has received acclaims of being India's popular national channel. Mr. Sunit Tandon focused on some of the characteristics of Public Service Broadcasting including:
- Variety of programme
- Impartiality of judging
- Financial matters
Mr. Vikram Channa, one of the renowned names in mass communication delivered a presentation on 'Future of Documentary Scene'. He emphasized on the importance of Story-telling to retain the viewer's interest. Ms. Annapurna Vancheswaran of TERI delivered a lecture on the importance of using mass media like Doordarshan to popularize public messages, especially, those concerning climate and environment change.
Mr. Sushil Pandit, in his presentation explained the methodology used in attaining TRPs. He further added that the days of monopoly are over and the audience has a number of choices.
Mr. Pervaiz Alam
Mr. Pervaiz Alam delivered speech on the 'Future of Radio'. He stated that the future would go with local radio. It is good sign that there are an increasing number of radio stations in our country. It is a phase of radio expansion where it needs skilled and trained work force to deal with these stations.
A number of students and faculty members attended this session. Expert from the industry, students and faculty from IP University, IMS, Noida, Rajasthan University, Jaipur attended the function.
