|
The school was founded in 1900 by Dr. John Anderson Graham, a Scottish missionary, for the care and training of destitute Eurasian and Anglo Indian children.
School Campus
Dr. Graham’s Homes is a large residential school spread out on an area of around 400 acres. It is the only institution with a cottage system - 16 girls cottages, 8 boys cottages, 2 cottages for boys in the age group of 5-7 years, and a nursery for children under the age of 5 years. There are 2 hostels for the older boys in Classes X-XII. The founder’s aim was for the Homes to be as self-supporting as possible. As a result the school has its own farm which supplies meat, milk, vegetables, butter, cheese etc., a store and bakery department which supplies bread and store items. A clothing department tailors the uniforms and supplies clothing and linen for the cottages. A workshop department carries out maintenance and repairs of all the buildings. A medical centre attends to children and staff who are sick, and also offers a two year preliminary course in first aid and nursing.
