India Schools : Sainik School, Chittorgarh
The school is a Ministry of Defence sponsored residential boys’ school.
Sainik School, Chittorgarh, is one of the five Sainik Schools first founded in the country by the then Defence Minister, Mr. V.K. Krishna Menon. The school was founded on 7th August 1961. It was housed in Bhopal ( what is now the Circuit House). The driving force behind the establishment of this school was Shri Mohanlal Ji Sukhadia, Ex CM and Governor. The founder principal was Brigadier Sankata Menon, AEC. He headed the institution from 24th June, 1961 to 26th Aug., 1967.
The school estate extends to about 280 acres. The main school building ,dormitories for students, residential quarters for staff, planned dairy farm, fruit orchard, infirmary, open stadium, auditorium, boys mess, guest house and extensive playgrounds are all located in its well laid out school campus. The Berach river skirts the eastern boundary of the school estate. On the eastern horizon also stands the majestic and historical 4th century AD fort of Chittor, aloft a plateau. This fort itself is memorable to the history of Rajasthan and India.
The institution is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
Admission is confined to boys in Class VI only. Boys must be between the age group of 10-11 years on the 1st July of the year in which admission is sought. Boys are admitted on the basis of the merit prepared as per written examination, interview and medical examination. All India Entrance Examination, interview and medical examination are normally conducted in the second/third week of February and April respectively every year.

- Governor of Rajasthan Scholarships : Only for boys of this State
- Ministry of Defence Scholarships : Only for children of Armed Forces
personnel & ex-servicemen.
- Government of India Merit Scholarships : For studies in residential
public schools including Sainik Schools.
- Ministry of Education and Culture, Government of India,
(Only for boys of Union Territories)
Participation in games is compulsory. There are facilities for hockey, cricket, athletics, football, tennis, boxing, handball, baseball, squash, badminton, volley ball and cross country. Physical training and health yoga education are imparted under the guidance of Army Physical Training Instructors and a trained teacher. All the boys except Class XII form part of the Junior Division wing of the NCC. Boys participate in all DG, NCC sponsored activities like Republic Day Camp, Annual Training Camp, adventure courses and NCC state level camps.
Extra Curricular Activities
The school organizes various clubs viz English & Hindi Literary Club, Music Club, Science & Electronics Club, Photography & Fine Arts Club, UNESCO Club, Public Speaking Club, Adventure Club (including Trekking), Yoga Club, Nature Study Club, craft including Canning Club, Book Binding, Horticulture Club, Phenyle, Soap, Candle and Chalk Making Club. All these clubs function vigorously. Treks and tours also form an integral part of school life. Mountaineering expeditions in liaison with Army Adventure Cell are also planned.
