It was the renowned industrialist and philanthropist Shri G.D. Birla’s dream to establish a unique system of education in Rajasthan. The school was founded by the Birla Education Trust in August 1944 as a Montessori School. It was started with 14 children under the able guidance of Dr. Maria Montessori, the world famous pioneer in child education. The school was then known as Shishu Mandir. It was built in the same year. By 1952 the school was changed into a purely residential institution. A year later the school was accepted as a full member of the Indian Public Schools Conference. The school has membership of Headmasters’ Conference, London, National Progressive Schools’ Delhi and Round Square Conference.

School Campus

The school is located at a distance of 200 kms from Delhi and 225 kms. from Jaipur. School campus is spread over in an area of about 25 acres and is divided into three sections - Junior, Middle and Senior Section containing 14 Hostels with modern amenities, three Messes, three Auditoriums/Assembly Halls, three well equipped M I Rooms, three rich Libraries, Swimming Pool, Riding School, Health Club / Gym with most modern facilities. The school is also well equipped with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Laboratories. Other extra co-curricular activities provided include Horse Riding, Swimming, Judo, Karate, Music, Art, Band, NCC (All three wings), Metal Craft, Wood Craft and spacious play fields for all major games/sports.

Teaching Staff

The school carries well qualified staff of seventy five in Teaching Faculty including PETs, Music teachers, Art teachers, Electronic teacher, Wood Craft teacher, Metal Craft teacher, Riding Master and Band Master. Middle and Junior sections are headed by two Headmasters.

Pupils

The students seek admission from different parts of the country being major contribution from Bihar, Assam, West Bengal and Rajasthan / Haryana / UP/ Punjab area. Children of all religions/ communities are welcome to the school. Old students of the school also contribute considerably in this aspect. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and is recognised by the Rajasthan Government. The school was granted permanent affiliation status w.e.f. 01-05-1985 and is the first school granted curricular autonomy in Maths & Science by the CBSE from the year 1991-1992.

Admission

The lower age limit for admission to Class I is 5 years on Ist July of the year of joining the school. Similarly co-relation of age and the class to which admission is sought is a must. Birth Certificate from the Municipal Board or a recognised institution only accepted. The student will be asked to withdraw from school if at any stage it is found that the proof of age submitted is wrong. The application for registration should be sent to the Principal by 30th May on the prescribed form. On receipt of the admission form and registration fees, the child’s name is registered for admission. Registration is no guarantee for admission. Admission test is generally held in the Ist week of July. In view of the fact that the number of vacancies in class V-VIII are very limited, the names of only those students, for class V-VIII, who have secured at least 60% marks in the previous class in their former school (and have preferably studied in an English medium school). There will be no admission in classes X & XII. Admission may be made in other classes on the availability of seats. Letter for admission test will be sent by June 10 only, if there are vacancies in a class. A few students may be admitted to class XI of the +2 stage of the Senior School Certificate Examination. .

For students residing outside India, admission test papers can be sent to the Indian Embassy/High Commission in case the Embassy/High Commission agrees to conduct the test for the candidate and send back the answer scripts. The parents/guardians of such candidates will have to contact the Embassy/High Commission on their own. The question papers for all such candidates will be sent in the month of May/June. Registered candidates care called for Entrance Test followed by an Interview. Admissions are done strictly on merit basis.

The school offers ‘Aditya Vikram Birla Memorial Scholarship’ of Rs. 15000/- each to four meritorious students every year. The school awards IPSC scholarship of Rs.. 15000/- to deserving students.

The school has been giving continued outstanding 100% results with ‘A’ grades in overwhelming majority.

Sports

The school has spacious play fields and provides all kinds of sports and games. Boys have been participating in different IPSC Meets, CBSE inter Zonal Tournaments, District Meets, State/ National Meets/Tournaments and have been performing commendably. Almost 1000 students proceed for tours and treks every year for one week to different areas of Rajasthan and northern Himalaya regions of Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh in small groups escorted by the staff.
