India Schools : Sainik School, Rewa
Sainik School, Rewa is one of the eighteen Sainik Schools in the country. It was founded on 20th July 1962 at the sprawling estate known as Yuvraj Bhawan. It is a purely residential school for boys. The medium of instruction is English.
The school is situated in the quiet and pleasant civil lines of Rewa. It has a campus of over 300 acres. The main teaching blocks have a beautiful building which has a grand auditorium, well equipped laboratories, a richly stocked library, a music room, and a computer centre. Students live in eight houses under the stewardship of a house master for each house and a hostel superintendent. There are many play grounds, staff quarters and dormitories.
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and a member of IPSC, New Delhi.
In the last week of February each year, an All India Entrance Examination for admission in Sainik Schools is conducted. A merit list for each state is prepared on the basis of written examination, interview and medical. Candidates who have passed Class V and are in the age group between 10-11 years on July 1 of the year of joining the school are eligible for admission in class VI. For admission in class IX the age should be between 13 and 14 years. School terms are from :

The Govt. of India and the M.P. State Government scholarships are awarded to deserving candidates from Classes VI to XII on merit-cum-means basis.
Hockey, cricket, football, volleyball, basket ball, table tennis, hand ball, tennis and cross country are conducted regularly. There are numerous play grounds and games are compulsory for each cadet. Cadets take part in athletics. School teams go and take part in the inter zonal matches.
Extra Curricular Activities
For the improvement of personality, there are different clubs and societies - The Literary Society promotes oratory and skills for writing; Photographic Club, Science Club, Arts Club, Dramatics and Yoga Club. The school is a member of World Nature Club and Red Cross Society. Stamp collection, carpentry, gardening, smithy, photography, ship and aero modelling and music are some of the activities that take place in the afternoons on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
