India Schools : Sainik School, Goalparaschool

The school was started in November 1964 at its temporary location in Goalpara. It moved to its permanent location near Maroni Village in October 1976.

The school has an area of 1,100 acres and :

• Dormitories for 350 boys.
• Main School Building : Administrative Block, Science Block and Training Block.
• Mess Building.
• Auditorium and Swimming Pool.

Teaching Staff

The teaching staff includes teachers and Crafts & Workshop Instructor, Bandmaster, PTI instructor, Lab Assistant and Librarian.

Pupils

The students are prepared for Defence Services.

Affiliation

Classes from VI to XII are being run as per syllabus prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education.

Fees/Admission

Admission

Between the age of 10 and 11 on the basis of an entrance examination conducted at selected centres in Assam, Meghalaya and Sikkim. The reservation for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes is as under :

1. Schedule castes : 15%
2. Schedule tribes : 7.5%
3. Service personnel including Ex-servicemen : 25%

Scholarships are given taking into account the income of parent/guardian.

Sports

In order to develop the co-ordination of body and mind, amongst cadets, activities like table tennis, badminton, football, volleyball, cross country, cricket, boxing, drill, basketball, PT and obstacle races are encouraged.

Extra Curricular Activities

These have been planned to inculcate in boys analytical thinking, better verbal/written expression as well as self confidence. Boys are given opportunities to organize extra and co-curricular activities at their own initiative.
