Schools in India: The Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur
The Late Sri T.B.V. Subhramanyam was entrusted with the project and was appointed the founder principal. Thus a new unit of the Hyderabad Public School came into existence in a rented building at Panjagutta. Later, the Osmania University leased out 40 acres of land at Ramanthapur and the school was shifted to its present site.
The Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur, is a member of the Indian Public Schoolsí Conference and it is an independent and autonomous institution.
The administrative block, accommodates the Principalís office, the accounts office and the clerical staff, a two storeyed main academic block, the science laboratories, the Principalís academic office, the Vice-Principalís office, the staff room, the assembly hall and class rooms.
It is a co-educational institution.
Pupils are prepared for the 10th class (All India Secondary School Certificate Examination of the CBSE) and also for the 12th Class (All India Senior Certificate Examination of the CBSE).
Fees are remitted through a school challan in Andhra Bank, Ramanthapur, or as a draft in favour of Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur drawn on Andhra Bank, payable at Ramanthapur Branch, Hyderabad- 500 013. Cheques will not be accepted.
The school fee shall be paid in 2 equal instalments on or before 15th May and 15th November of every year between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Registration forms for admission to Classes 1 and 5 are issued and registered between the 15th of February and 15th of March every year. Admission is granted only on merit. Those registered will be given a written test in English, second language and Mathematics for Class 5 and only in English and Mathematics for Class 1.
The school admits children to Classes 1 and 5 only. A boy should be between 9 and 10 years of age on the 31st. of August of that particular year for which he seeks admission to Class 5 and should be between 5 and 6 years of age, if he seeks admission to Class 1.
The school encourages boys who require financial help under the scholarship schemes such as, the Government of India Merit Scholarship, Andhra Pradesh Merit Scholarship, A.P. Merit cum Means Scholarship and Welfare Scholarships for S.Cs and S.Ts.
The school has enough playgrounds for all its requirements besides the childrenís park near the primary and the parallel bars adjacent to the boarding house. Cricket, basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, kabaddi and table tennis are the main games for which infrastructure is available. The cricket pitches are well maintained. Basketball courts are in conformity with international standards. New tennis courts have also been added.
The school has three terms: June to September, October to December and January to April.
Extra Curricular Activities
These are the Science Club, the History Society, the Geography Society, the Debating Societies in English, Hindi and Telugu, the Quiz Contest Conclave and the Dramatics Society. The children function as the secretaries of the societies under the guidance of the teachers as chairman. These societies meet regularly and conduct programmes. The Ravindra Bharati Cultural Programme held once in a year is a regular feature.
